Hello, ladies,
I just received an e-mail from Dr. Sue Pettit, Omega State President, and she said all Colorado Chapters got their 990EZ into the state. WHOOPPEE!! Thanks to Shirley Lambert! Our DKG dues were due to Shirley Lambert by October 31, 2016.
At the our October meeting, I updated the members on all that went on at the Omega State Fall Board Meeting. As usual much of the focus was on membership. One thing that was mentioned was the prevote. That means women's names would be submitted for membership, then the members would vote, and then the women would be contacted. Because they have already been voted into DKG, hopefully, they would want to join. If we want to do this, it is acceptable with International as well as the State. Billie Love, Dorothy Sanchez, and myself received certificates of membership from Omega State.
Program Books were passed out. A big thank you to Dorothy and her daughter, Susan Felt, for the all the work they put into the books. THANK YOU! I did have some updated dates for page 25 in the program book-----June 10-12, 2016 Leadership Conference at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Colorado Springs; July 4-7, 2017 Southwest Regional, Hawaii. Also, please remember that Omega State Peaks is ONLINE ONLY. We have a new address for Billie Love. P.O. Box 2031, Buena Vista, Colorado 81211.
The membership again decided to give $75 to each school district in Chaffee County. I presented the $75 check to Sara Wilcox, a fourth grade teacher, for the fourth graders' field trip fund. I believe Kathy Roman was going to present the $75 check to Buena Vista fifth graders' field trip fund.
I gave my presentation on my trip to Ireland, Wales, England, and Paris. I do want to thank you all for the scholarship money.
Rho Chapter is having their 75th Anniversary with a High Tea at the Antlers in Colorado Springs on December 5, 2015. I have sent my reservation and money in to attend.
Our next meeting is on November 17, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. AT CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHIRST, 217 CROSSMAN AVE., BUENA VISTA. USE THE BACK ENTRANCE BY THE POST OFFICE ;THE FIRST DOOR ON THE RIGHT. Our program will be given by Laura Keathley, Special Education Teacher. Hostesses are Coletta Sanchez and Dorothy Sanchez.
This year our Christmas Brunch will be Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church. The cost will be $12. Carole Barnes will bring her guitar so bring your voices. Also, plese bring a "Toy for Tots" to give to the Buena Vista Student Council. I need your RSVP before Dec. 4.
Hope to see you all at the meeting and the Christmas brunch!

October Newsletter
Hello ladies,
HAPPY AUTUMN!
Our first meeting of Upsilon Chapter was held on September 15, 2015 at the Congregational Church at 3:00 p.m. An early meeting was held since our Chapter bagged "Books for Babies." Janet estimated we filled 278 bags. Thank you to all who helped!!
I highlighted items from the Omega State Convention held in Lonetree. One important item was the increase in Omega State dues. This increased total dues---active members $70 and $40 reserve members which are due by October 31, 2015. Upsilon Chapter's dues remains the same $7. Our Chapter uses the money received from the flower deliveries for the general fund, and when necessary, the "Books for Babies" fund.
Also, new Omega State Officers were installed. I have consented to be Communications and Publicity Chair for 2015-2017.
Upsilon Chapter again received a 4 Star Award. This is the 4th or 5th time we have received this great achievement award. Thanks to all of you!!!
In August, Shirley Lambert and myself audited the books for this past year. They were okay.
Shirley, our treasurer, informed the membership that an additional $5000 was given to the Salida Regional Library. That left the Senior Girl High School Scholarship Fund with about $3000. Last Spring, there was a mix-up with the Tuesday Evening Club Funds....we had them reversed.
Omega Peaks is now online only. If you did not receive it, it is on the Omega State website http://dkgcolorado.weebly.com. If you need a hard copy, just let me know.
Our Program Books will be available at our next meeting. Dorothy Sanchez and her daughter, Susan, are working on them. We want to thank both of them especially since Dorothy has been "laid up" most of the summer.
After the meeting, a pizza party was held. It was a treat to ourselves!
The next DKG Upsilon Chapter will be held on October 20, 2015 at the Grace Fellowship Hall at 4 p.m. As the local scholarship recipient, I will be presenting the program about my trip to Ireland, Wales, England, and Paris. Hostesses are Denise Scifres and Bonnie Young.
Thank you for all you do for DKG.

August Newsletter
August 23, 2015
Hello, Dear Ladies,
I hope that you all enjoyed a nice summer.
On June 5-7, Omega State held their Conference in Lone Tree. The membership voted on two new items that you need to know about, and Omega State has a new website.
1) Omega State increased dues this year (2015-2016) by $5 and will increase the dues $5 again next year (2016-2017). Total dues this year will be as follows: Active $70; Reserve $40
2) Omega State Peaks will be totally online. Upsilon has 4 members that needed printed bulletin, so I will print them and send them with their newsletter.
3) Omega State's website is http://dkgcolorado.weebly.com. If any member with e-mail did not receive the Omega State Peaks from Omega State Editor, Farabe Smith, they can find it on the website.
On August 11, the Upsilon Executive Board meet to work on this year's programs. Those able to attend were Kathy Roman, Shirley Lambert, Janet Steiner, and myself. There are a couple of months that we need to verify programs, but I think the programs will be good.
Three of our members had a rough summer. Dorothy Sanchez broke her leg, Marie Armstrong broke her arm, and Billie Love is doing her dialysis in Colorado Springs. I know we all hope that they are on their way to recovery and Billie gets to come home.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Crossman, Buena Vista. Please use the entrance on the Post Office side. We will meet at 3:00 p.m. as Janet and Kathy have books for us to bag for "Books for Babies." Then our annual pizza party will begin after we finish with the books and our meeting. The Executive Board will be hostesses.
Just to let everyone know, I will not be President next biennium. Therefore, members need to start thinking about officers for 2016-2018.
Hope to see you all at our first meeting.

April Newsletter
April 14, 2015
Hello, ladies,
Just wanted to remind you that we will be having our April Brunch on April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Jan's restaraunt in Buena Vista. I have had a few members already let me know if they will be able to attend or not. If you can let me know, that will be helpful. I will phone those members that I do not hear from.
Looking forward to next year, I need some input.
1) Is 4:00 p.m. still a good time to meet or would 3 be better? 4 seemed to have worked especially since the Grace Church Fellowship Hall is used at 6 p.m. by their members.
2) What are some programs that would be interesting to members? I plan on doing a program about my trip abroad as I was given a scholarship. Some others issues that have been mentioned are: autism, bullying. Do you know anyone available to talk on these issues?
3) Next year in March we will be voting on a new Executive Committee.
I figure if I tell you now you can be thinking about this until August when the Executive Board meets to do the Program Book.
Enjoy spring!

March Newsletter
March 9, 2015
Dear Ladies,
Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met on February 17, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in Salida at my home. Our program featured Ms. Maggie Falconi, the ELL teacher, in the Salida School District. Ms. Falconi, also, teaches English for CMC. Since her father was a doctor, she was lucky enough to travel and live in many countries. She explained that with the number of students whose second language is English along with their parents she is kept quite busy. Ms. Falconi is connected with "The Student Exchange Program" and has 7 students in various countries. In March Ms. Falconi takes students and community members for tours abroad. The members thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with her. We thank her!
Applications for Upsilon Chapter Scholarship for senior girls in Salida and Buena Vista were to be given to counselors the first of March. Billie Love is the chair of that committee. Members will be updated at our next meeting.
Shirley Lambert and Dorothy Sanchez were to put the Tuesday Evening Club Scholarship Fund into Upsilon Chapter's name. They were going to do that as soon as possible.
Members present at the meeting voted to give $25 to the Buena Vista Heritage Museum for lights and $25 to Grace Church for the use of their building.
Bonnie Young will organize the flower delivery for Mother's Day. The members decided it was a good way of making some money and having fun.
The members present discussed that going to a restaurant for our April brunch was the way to go. Jan's Restaurant was one idea. We will need to decide on the place and date (9 Health Fair is April11 in Buena Vista; none in Salida). If you have another idea of a place to go, please bring it to the meeting, e-mail to me, or call me.
Our next meeting is March 17, 2015 at the Grace Church Fellowship Hall at 4 p.m. We do not have a program, but if there is something you would like to share, be prepared to do it. Also, don't forget to wear green!!!! Hostesses are Denise Scifes and Bonnie Young.
Happy Daylight Saving Time!!!!

February Newsletter
February 7, 2015
Dear Ladies,
Upsilon Chapter had their regular meeting on January 20, 2015 in Buena Vista at the Grace Fellowship Hall. The program was given by Tom Tomson, Director of the Buena Vista Heritage Museum. Mr. Tomson explained his background and them the beginnings of the museum. He shared the ideas he is hoping to put into place this winter.
During the meeting members were informed that the Salida Regional Library received the money from the former Tuesday Evening Club Fund. Shirley Lambert made a motion to move the former Tuesday Evening Club Scholarship money from Collegiate Peaks Banks to Pueblo Bank & Trust and put it in DKG's name. Those present agreed.
Billie Love and her committee will get the Scholarship Applications for senior girls in Buena Vista and Salida to Counselors March 1.
Bonnie Young will be contacting those members that are willing to deliver flowers for Mt. Meadow Florist on Valentine's Day. We may be needed to deliver flowers on the 13.
I now have only one box of books for Books for Babies. The hospital called for more so I took 3 boxes. The hospital appreciates the bags.
The membership was informed that Betty Farrington broke her hip. We all hope she is doing well. Our thoughts are with her.
Applications for our Upsilon Chapter Scholarship for members are due March 1. I will have the applications if anyone wants to apply. We give two.
Potential Members names are due also
NEXT MEETING WILL BE FEBRUARY 17, 2015 AT THERESA CORTESE'S HOME. THE TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 5:00 P.M. The program will be given by Maggie Falconi, ESL teacher in Salida. She will begin her program at 5:30 p.m. Since I don't have much on the agenda, I think our meeting will be short.
Hostesses are Theresa Cortese and Dorothy Sanchez.
Happy Valentine's Day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, LADIES!
On December 6, 2014, members of Upsilon Chapter enjoyed a delicious Christmas brunch made and served by the United Methodist Women in Salida. This was a bittersweet event as the women will no longer be able to do our brunches. We thanked them for their many years of feeding us!
After eating, a short meeting was held. An obituary of Veta (Thorne) Smith was passed around for members to read. Veta was a member of Upsilon Chapter until she moved. Bonnie Young volunteered to take the "Toys for Tots" to the Buena Vista High School. Thanks, Bonnie. I have already received a thank you from them.
Billie Love, World Fellowship Chair, read "The Legend of Babouscka" and $77 was collected. Shirley Lambert, Treasurer, will see that the money is sent to International.
Carole Barnes, Upsilon Music Chair, played her guitar and let the members sing several Christmas Carols. It made for a great Christmas Party.
Our next meeting will be on January 20, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the Grace Fellowship Hall in Buena Vista. The program will be presented by Tom Tomson, Director of the Buena Vista Heritage Museum. Guests are always welcomed.
Hostesses for the meeting are Beth Dwyer and Coletta Sanchez.
Bonnie Young will be asking for volunteers to deliver flowers for Valentine's Day at Mt. Meadows Florist.
Hope to see you at the next meeting.
