Donation to Salida Regional Library

Donation to Longfellow Elementary School
4th Grade Field Trips
In October 2015, on behalf of Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in Chaffee County, Theresa Cortese presented Salida Longfellow Elementary fourth grade teacher, Sara Wilcox, a check for the fourth graders field trip fund. This is the third year that Upsilon Chapter has given money to both Salida Longfellow Elementary School fourth graders' field trip fund and Buena Vista Avery-Parsons Elementary School fifth graders' field trip fund. Janet Steiner presented the 2015 check to Avery-Parsons Elementary School.

Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in Chaffee County voted to present a $75 check to the Longfellow Elementary Fourth Grades to be used for field trips. Theresa Cortese, president, said "As educators, we know the importance of 'hands-on' learning. Chapter members decided that, by making this an annual donation, all Longfellow Elementary students will eventually benefit."

World FellowshipEach December, Upsilon Chapter receives a special donation for Delta Kappa Gamma World Fellowship. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International's World Fellowship Program began in 1946 as a project to aid women in war-torn countries. To date more than 858 women from over 117 countries have received fellowships to enable them to pursue advanced study in the United States and Canada.

Toys for Tots
Each December, Upsilon Chapter collects donations of new toys for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program to benefit local children. The Marines distribute the toys as gifts to less fortunate children in the Salida and Buena Vista areas.
